Ok, so french speaking children are dumb....
A friend asked our club what would they preferably talk about when they are in front of young schoolchildren who never were tought astronomy, before.
Unanimously: the solar system ! That is: the Sun, the planets and our Moon. Because we live on one of the planets! The other solar system celestial bodies will come later. The HR diagram even later, etc....and much later the exact definition of a planet. I'm sure US schoolchildren (less than 12 year old) are not tought the precise definition of a planet.
We have to start somewhere and that somewhere should be easy and fun to grasp. Easy and fun means perhaps, in the classroom, one of the guys will get the astronomy spark !
