RSS is kind of a strange thing these days: Disappeared from public view, after a few years when feed aggregators like Google's were all the rage. But it's still ubiquitous, both because it's built in to a lot of software, like WordPress, and because it's evolved into special uses. Facebook, for example, has a specialized format for sucking items from news sites to put into its feeds. If you're a news site, you're forced to do it that way to get your items picked up.
A few years ago, I put together a large online course that used RSS to link external blogs into one massive discussion forum. External blog posts would become root posts, and local comments would get "pingbacked" or whatever it is, to the source blog. Worked well, but overall the site flopped.
Point is, I've thought about linking RSS feeds into the Zone in a similar way. There's lots of stuff out there that's little-used, but ought to be. SpaceScience could have NASA feeds, various news feeds into CE, recipies into ComestibleZone....
Obviously it's not something I've thought about enough to flesh out, it's just a glimmer based on having some code sitting on the shelf that can do it. What to do with the capability, I'm not sure, but as an RSS aficionado, you got any ideas?
