Compassion is admirable, but it has to be grounded in reality.
If I have to drive this point in with a steam hammer, I will:
THE NUMBER IS WORSE IN A NATION WHERE NATIONAL HEALTH CARE EXISTS ALREADY.
I would have thought that it would have made some small impression that Bowser was utterly wrong, and that this number was as low as it is under our supposedly "failed" system.
No system created by man is going to solve all the problems in the world. No Grand Overlords in Washington are going to be able to do anything that will reduce that 0.002 percent to zero. Or probably even significantly affect it.
The underlying premise of your argument seems to be a common one: That we can solve our problems completely if we just give the government, and the flawed humans in it, infinite power. To believe this requires blanking out logic, blanking out common sense, blanking out reams of information, and frankly, blanking out most of the history of the 20th century.
Liberals have to stop plugging government into their psyches where cultures used to plug gods.
