re: Now, you do know I have never said I favor single-payer health care.

You don't think people with Medicare don't get into fights over coverage?

There's that word "significant" again. Yet according to several polls, the vast majority of people in America are satisifed with their health care. Did you see the post I made below?

Seems that of those who are considered "uninsured," about 60 percent are still satisfied with their level of health care, which shows a major hole in one of the primary assumptions made in this issue.

We have to "do something," we are told. Yet when solutions are proposed, they are always the same ones: more authority to the centralized government, more control over our lives and fortunes, more power taken away from individuals and given to the State. You might have noticed that these are the solutions presented to us for EVERY "crisis." Try and find an exception.

This is a manufactured issue, pushed for the same reason as many others--for the purpose of accumulating more power to the government. Health care in the U.S. actually works pretty well, and despite the constant litany on "the uninsured," we aren't doing much worse than most other countries as far as people falling through the cracks, and in the specific case here (childbirth), we're doing better.
