Fear and loathing

I think I came away agreeing with the consensus opinion, that Woodward's book provides unimpeachable (ha ha) documentation of what we've suspected and seen in slivers from Trump.

You might be missing the bite you might've expected, based on previous works that more openly had an ax to grind. Even though Woodward occasionally adopts the first person, the account is impeccably sober. He let the horror of the facts speak for themselves.

I can neither agree nor disagree that Trump isn't evil. I think his malignant narcissism makes him almost a caricature of a villain, yet because he's in a position to act, massively, on his pathology, I think Trump is indistinguishable from evil.

Whether he "means" it or not, Trump's effect in the world is pure evil.

Does he ever try to "do the right thing"? I honestly and seriously doubt it, for any value of the "right thing" as recognized by normal people. Trump's definition of the "right thing" is that of a narcissist: me, me, me!

I think, though, we're starting to see that the actual scope of Trump's effect on the world outside our borders is going to be limited. The reaction at the UN today says a lot of people share your perception of Trump as a fool who can safely be laughed at. The world's treating Trump's America like damage and it's starting to route around it.

Watch for the creation of a global reserve currency to replace the dollar. That's when America will have been officially disconnected from global influence and power.
