They were so damn eager for someone that gave voice to their ignorance and bigotry that the voted for the first man calling himself a republican that spoke their language- even if he didn't espouse ANY of the principles that they claimed to hold dear.
They didn't even care how patently absurd it was to think a Reality Show star had the qualifications to be president- all that mattered is that he gave voice to their ignorance and bigotry- that was it, that is all it took to get their vote.
Historians will be at a loss to explain the magnitude of their stupidity... and their stupidity is deep and profound, but they knew what they were doing- they were electing someone as worthless as themselves... and somehow thought that would make them 'winners'.
They STILL have no goddamn idea how much they are going to lose.
