Grift is stealing from someone usually using trickery- fooling someone in order to get something from them.
It is the the platform of the Republican Party.
"If we give tax cuts to the wealthy (especially the GOP's biggest donors) then the wealth will trickle down to everyone!" Is a grift.
"Unless you vote for us the Immigrants will come and rape your women!" is a grift.
