I think you judged that wrong.
They want power, not the Presidency. With the majorities I pointed out they can prevent Biden or the Dems from doing anything, but he'll still be in the White House so they can blame inflation, Covid, the economy, global warming and Ukraine on him.
Once they've consolidated their hold on the bureaucracy, THEN they'll be able to put anyone they want in power. It won't be Trump, he's too old and crooked and stupid. It will probably be DeSantis, or whoever survives the internecine fighting that will follow Trump's demise.
