Last year, Mrs P went through an annoying run around with the IRS. We got a letter that she had to confirm her identity over the phone before they would process her taxes. Only, no one ever answered the phone. Ever. We tried several times a day, every day, for weeks on end. Our accountant did the same. Once we finally got through, the conversation lasted ten minutes.
The funding of the IRS by the Dems was supposed to help with this sort of thing. Is the IRS messed up? Yup. Cutting the budget is going to F it up more.
And that's the plan. Get ready for an entertaining April.
By the way, why are all returns due on one day? Driving everyone mad that time of year? Accountants go insane. The IRS is swamped. How about submitting your taxes six months from your birthday?
