ISRAEL controls their power and water, and ISRAEL is happy with that arrangement since it gives them a noose to use on Gaza’s neck. ISRAEL controls what can enter Gaza – many cancer meds and treatments are not allowed in Gaza because ISRAEL has determined them to have dual use capabilities. ISRAEL’s restrictions led to the vast majority of factories being shuttered.

Please explain how Israel controls what crosses from the Egyptian border into Gaza? How about let's start this by saying Israel AND EGYPT do all the things in your quote above?

There is nothing farcical or Orwellian about Palestinians completely and independently running their own territory since 2007 within land they claim is theirs. Gaza has a prime mininster whose name is Issam al-Da'alis. Gaza has a parliament run by Hamas. The palestinian government in Gaza run the police, the judiciary sector, the education sector, the heathcare sector and all the other public sectors of the Gaza strip. Iran doesn't run Gaza, and it is absurd to suggest it. They have influence there but Hamas is in charge. The United States has influence in Israel but we don't administer it. Technically Gaza is not a sovereign state and is not recognized by other nations as such. DEFACTO it is a sovereign state for all intents and purposes. It is significantly larger in land and/or population than a number of very small nations in the world and is entirely self governing. THAT IS THE REALITY. Boycotts and embargoes from other nations do not change the basic fact that palestinians there are running their own show.

Certainly the history of conflict with Israel has only radicalized the palestinian population. As it has radicalized the Israeli population as well. A couple decades ago there was a huge peace movement in Israel. Millions of Israelis, mostly young people, marched for peace and wanted to negotiate a settlement with the palestinians. The reason that movement dissolved is there was NEVER any reciprocation from the palestinian side. Only continued violence and attacks, and it hardened the vast majority of the Israeli population against compromise. Hamas began as a terrorist organization, and you can't change the DNA of terrorists.
