Actually the implicit idea is that very single model for reaching net zero emmissions by 2050 require SOME level of carbon capture to make the numbers work. Obviously we cannot solve climate changewith carbon capture alone, not even close, but we also can't solve it without cartbon capture in the mix of solutions. It's been a long time since you took high school chemistry. Maybe you forgot that the ability to solve problems is important in chemistry because chemical systems are complex and involve many steps in order to be solved.
