Thank you for all that

First of all let me say I appreciate the great detail you go into to make your point. I'm impressed by your arguments and I understand the scale of the problem. You're very persuassive, at least until you stray into the anti-billionaire diatribe.

No, I don't "worship" billionaires and I don't hold any illusions that they are going to magically solve the problem on their own. There are a few who are trying, and I give them credit for that. My point all along has been that, obviously, the way to wean society off fossil fuels is to make alternate clean energy sources cheaper. Duh. We have now actually reached that threshhold and are seeing a slow but accelerating global conversion to renewables as a power source. Again, not based on top down policy declarations but based on economics and what is most cost effective and efficient.

I get it that it's too late to stop the effects of climate change and the scale of the problem is irreversible in the coming decades based on current techology. It would take a revolutionary breakthrough in technology and energy to stop climate change in this century.

Remember the cold fusion hoax? If that had been real we would have had abundant cheap clean energy that would have transformed the planet. They could have turned the Sahara Desert into a giant garden. When I argue about hope I'm talking about a discovery on this scale. Yeah probably a pipe dream. It's very unlikely but not impossible that some technological breakthrough will become a game changer. Brilliant people are making discoveries all the time.

That is my hope. I'm going to hang on to it if you don't mind.
