GRB 260924A

GCN Circular 45712
GRB 260924A: Fermi GBM Final Real-time Localization
From: Fermi GBM Team at MSFC/Fermi-GBM
Issued: 2026-09-24 01:23 UTC
Why this event is posted: its fluence of 3.8×10^-4 erg/cm² is at or above this year's top-10% threshold of 3.9×10^-5, and it has drawn 28 GCN Circulars, at or above the top-10% threshold of 14.

The Fermi GBM team reports the detection of a likely LONG GRB

At 01:13:23 UT on 24 Sep 2026, the Fermi Gamma-ray Burst Monitor (GBM) triggered and located GRB 260924A (trigger 811905208.561746 / 260924051).

The on-ground calculated location, using the Fermi GBM trigger data, is RA = 139.9, Dec = 9.7 (J2000 degrees, equivalent to J2000 09h 19m, 9d 41'), with a statistical uncertainty of 1.6 degrees.

The angle from the Fermi LAT boresight is 62.0 degrees.

Filter: gamma-ray bursts are posted only if in the top 10% of the past year's — by fluence (total energy received per cm², from Fermi GBM, Konus-Wind, GECAM and similar circulars; now ≥ 3.9×10^-5 erg/cm²) or by the number of GCN Circulars about the burst (now ≥ 14). Thresholds are recalculated monthly.
