The reason for this is because Jodi posted her reply in the new post box at the bottom (which is the intuitive thing to do) instead of clicking reply on the root post. I'm not sure how this can be fixed unless the new post box can be removed
edit: perhaps this can be fixed by playing around with post and/or thread preferences but I'm going to leave that to Robert
