i just watched the pilot for the new abc tv series "defying gravity". actually it was pretty good, both as sf and as drama, but it was awfully reminiscent of the recent pilot on fox, "virtuality". in fact, the similarities are eerie. in both cases, you have a big space ship on a long deep space mission. the crew is composed of gorgeous and very randy boys and girls (a tv first: free-fall sex!) and there is some mysterious force or agency, with near-supernatural powers, in the background pulling strings which the crew is not aware of, but which mission control is obviously collaborating with. the two shows even have an unexplainable airlock accident in common. anybody catch this?
