Re: Yes, laughing.

Maybe the U.N. is gullible enough to accept pie-in-the-sky "goals" as accomplished facts, but if you look at what China is actually doing, they're building about two new coal power plants every week.

Note the "clean energy goals" listed in that article - about 400 GW total by 2020.

China added 78 GW of new energy capacity in 2007 alone. Of that 78 gigawatts, 62 GW - about 15 percent of that 2020 goal - were from new coal plants. That's only one years's worth. I don't have a number for 2008.

Just as a comparison, this is where U.S. coal plant construction stands.

Either de Boer is that gullible, or he's just on board with the usual U.N. agenda of attacking and looting the U.S. China's primary use for the global warming fad is the possibility of using it to loot the West in some manner. If I'm right, this upcoming conference will result in China coming up with some idea to funnel cash from the U.S. to themselves. Wait for it.

Bonus question for the day: Is building things like Three Gorges the way to accomplish renewable energy goals?
