David Broder wrote a book about failures of the media by offering 'fair and balanced' reporting. For instance, providing Joe McArthy and his hearings equal time with the reportage on his errors.
Why provide 'fair and balanced' to round and flat earthers, to those who deny global warming and those that acknowledge it or to Creationism and science? Doing so simply gives nuts credibility among those who don't necessarily follow matters.
(May as well give 'fair and balanced' coverage to the Tea Party, Bachmann, Palin, etc. Gives 'em credibility they don't deserve and cuts into those who make sense.?)
