Some good news and some bad news.

The Japanese Hayabusha asteroid-landing spacecraft
may not make it back to earth. It's down to one operable
ion engine. Bad news. 😢

The Planetary Society has announced that an anonymous donor
had given the PS a million dollars to launch a solar-sail into
a 800 km high orbit before the year 2010 is out. Good news. 😁

The X-Prize Lunar-Lander competition
has a level 2 winner: Masten Space Systems picks up the million dollar first-prize. Good news. 😉
Now they have the money, engineers, tools and facilities to go into busines competition against UP Aerospace by launching prepaid payloads to altitudes over
100 km.

And this Friday, NASA will announce the science results from the Centaur
lunar impact. Good news?
