SGU is falling into the tried and true trap of resolving everything by show's end. This used to be the standard and garanteed lazy writers a job for several seasons, however I think the best shows are moving away from that model. That being said, last week's episode was one of the best I've seen of any sci-fi series. It was so good, I had to watch it twice.
My preferences run closer to shows like Lost or FlashForward where you are in it for the long-haul and know very little of whats going to happen until the reveals. Its riskier since you need to trust the writers have planned ahead well enough to tie the big pieces together. I loved BSG because the main storyline had an arc from beginning to end, however its downfall was that Ron Moore took the well-earned trust of the audience and trashed it in the finale. I'm not a hater, but the finale did leave a sour taste in the mouth after years of fine dining. Once bit, twice shy, I'm now worried for the final season of Lost.
