Geek Speak » in reply to All mods can edit geek

Re: Re: Hmmmm: I suspect...

...that it is a default in the permissions setting. Recall that Robert had to go to a different permission setting to allow all three Space Mods equal access, that might have also changed the entire edit feature. During the construction phase, mods had Editor powers, which allowed the modification of the forum itself, including permissions. Now only Robert can do that (as far as I know), and that's a good thing, 'cause I've broken it before. Geek is editable by posters, and is a public board. (PS, I'd like to see some other boards public, such as Science fiction and Mysteries.)

The only logic I can see behind not allowing users to edit their posts would be to keep posters from going back and changing more than misspellings, and not indicating that the post had been edited. Or, entire posts could be blanked out of later regret. This place seems to have an unspoken honor code; yet, self-editing could open doors to possible abuse.

I'm not attached either way.
