I haven't read of any need to create extensive fracturing in order to sequester into saline formations or old fossil fuel formations. Maybe I've missed something. There's a third sequestration method I know less about, that I think involves injection into basalt.
Generally I think they would not want to do a lot of fracturing as that would increase the possibility of leakage.
