There are a number of issues, and this is one of them, where there is so much controversy that it is nearly impossible to find hard data that is NOT being filtered and edited through highly polarized sources. At some point, by tracking references, and following the reference chains uphill branch by branch, you can eventually find source material and judge it on your own, but it's a project.

From the little I have found, I believe that sexual harassment is a big issue, but this is probably nothing new. Even the politically-correct TV version of "MASH" often treated women as interchangable sex objects, and the movie was worse (not that this is real data, but it shows what people generally assumed about the military back then). Rape levels seems to be on a par with civilian cases, but I would like harder data. Not that there is an "acceptable" level of rapes, of course. My bandwidth is very narrow right now what with Judy and the holidays.
