It was

A hoot, that is. And satisfying, to be able to defend what amounts to my world, my nascent digital civilization, from the criminals trying to exploit it.

The tone of the correspondence changed over time, the English getting better, as, I think, I was passed up the ranks of this organization as I built the impression that Rooster was a real big shot. I started early with a little anecdote about Rooster telling his nephew George about this interesting business proposition from Nigeria, George cautioning him and citing government reports, and Rooster responding, "now Dubya, I know y'all are jes lookin' out for your dear ole uncle...". Perhaps this anecdote is a caution: Could it have been dangerous for me to push my way up the ranks of a criminal organization, to the level of people with the brass balls to try to fleece the uncle of the President of the United States?

And then to scare the beejezus out of him and make him flee to another country? Can you say, "playing with fire"? How about "revenge is a dish best served cold"?

You might want to think about it before playing this game.
