I'm assuming they're talking pure electric cars, not electric hybrids, so the major problem would be a low battery when you got out of work. It's interesting in a geek sort of way, but I'd rather build more nuclear plants. Solar facilities are also ideal for peak shaving in areas where much of the daytime loads are AC (the Southwest for example). When the sun is brightest and hottest is when the solar systems work the best.
