rob, the issue is not whether or not the climate skeptics should be dismissed out of hand. i've always felt there is a small, but not insignificant, possibility that they might be right, or at least partially right. and there is certainly good reason to believe that even if agw is completely correct, that the strategies proposed to fight it may be premature, or even ill-considered.

the issue is whether or not those who oppose agw for purely ideological reasons should be taken seriously. (of course, they're not about to tell you that if they are). i simply do not trust the right wing's motives, they have every self-serving reason to oppose agw, and everything to gain by denying it, and they are using the same tactics and rhetoric they have always employed when faced by policies that threaten their profits.

and their attempt to ascribe the same self-serving reasons to the entire spectrum of their opponents convinces me they simply cannot be trusted.
