My 25-year-old Japanese Motorcycle (A Kawasaki 1300) had a plastic OIL PUMP DRIVE GEAR.
Guess what? It failed, and the engine lost all oil pressure!
Luckily, it failed on a trip to the mechanic who knows these things backwards. He built me a new one out of Aluminium - the old ones are unobtaiable now - they've all been consumed.
