Re: masters of the noh play

Leaving aside the idiotic editorial comments of the article writer, which you italicized, I see no real issues here.

Liberals would fight just as hard to prevent conservative judges from being confirmed. Some form of mass amnesia has set in among liberals about Democratic and liberal behavior during Republican administrations, otherwise they'd certainly remember how they mau-maued conservative judge nominations. The word "Bork" is a commonly-used verb for a reason.

Frankly, it's getting old listening to amnesiac liberals lecture about "civility." The Democratic Party has overwhelming power in the House and Senate, and controls the White House. And all you hear now is wailing about how nasty the tiny minority is being. Quite a change from when the Democrats were a minority and it was all about "tyranny of the majority" and the blessedness of the filibuster.

In fact, the Democrats are almost angrier about opposition now, with total control, than they were when the Republicans had their slim majorities. It almost seems like nothing would satisfy them except single-party government.

If this was a Republican president, we'd be hearing - from all these same liberals - how the president had damn well better pick a "moderate," or else.

Liberalism has gone so far past the word "hypocrisy" that there should be a new word for it.

Here's Byron York on the subject.
