edit correction. due to a math error (sorry, i'm no mathematician!) my last paragraph is not exactly correct. we earned more money in 2009 than in 2008, and we did indeed pay a higher percentage of our income in tax. (which is, after all, only fair, i personally believe higher incomes should pay higher percentages of tax).
my apologies. rather than simply erase the error and risk a misunderstanding, i thought it best to just correct it in a separate post.
