If I am right, Rob, you will never see any serious penalty come out of this. The hostility toward Goldman Sachs is feigned, solely for political ends, and I suspect the company knows this quite well. Goldman Sachs, as I said, is one of the pigs sitting at the farmer's table.
The politicians posing heroically on the ramparts, waving pitchforks at Evil Wall Street to impress the gullible and stupid, are stuffing Wall Street cash into their pockets as fast as they can.
Prediction: This case will fold up as soon as the political ends are attained. No jail time, no serious penalties. A few hand slaps, or fines that Goldman Sachs could pay out of petty cash. And much later on, maybe some nice jobs for a few political types.
