Due process means there are laws, passed by elected officials, and properly enforced by law officers. Equal protection does not mean a suspected armed bank robber should be treated the same as someone caught double parking.
When I put up those headlines that read "Arizona Bill Would Make Illegal Immigration a Crime" it wasn't about headlines being outsourced to India. The liberal mind actually thinks that means something.
Either the concept of illegal immigrant is legally valid, based on Federal laws dating back to Roosevelt (including the law requiring aliens to carry papers at all times), or it isn't. Liberals can easily believe both to be true and not true at the same time. I can't. So we end up with "deeply offended" versus "rational."
If you don't want the law enforced, change it. At the Federal level. Have the Democrats stand up and declare that the Federal Code is abolished-open borders and amnesty. It's obvious that the radical left, which will be marching on May 1st around the country, believes this. But then, unlike the Democrats, they don't have to pretend they're something other than what they are.
Or enforce it and protect the borders. As I've said before, we have a lot more to worry about nowadays than farm workers.
The only reason this is a big liberal issue now is because they very badly need one to stay in power this fall, and this one fits into one of their comfort zones, the very deep and heavily traveled rut of "racism." If you look at the polls, they may be making a mistake.
