FDIC will pay up if my investments go under due to bank failure. I am protected against everything except hyperinflation...or a total collapse of the system. In either case, we're all screwed anyway, and there's nothing I can do about either eventuality, so there's no point in worrying about it. Besides, I'm betting the system will outlast me. The people in charge can always be counted on to find a way to delay paying the bill.
As for your kids, maybe you should have thought about them while you were politically promoting an economic policy addicted to constant unsustainable growth based on irresponsible consumption of natural resources, a negative balance of payments, encouragement of obscene consumer and corporate debt and financial speculation, non-industrial service industries that produce nothing of any real value, and immigrant and outsourced labor.
America's business community, like its consumers AND it's government, has made the exact same mistakes it has always blamed liberals for. They have all lived way beyond their means and called it "The American Dream". And now it's time to pay up.
Don't blame me. I worked hard at useful, socially responsible jobs, saved my money, lived simply, paid my bills, stayed out of debt, stayed away from the stock market and drove sub-compact cars until they literally fell apart under me. And I didn't complain about, or cheat on, my taxes, and I never went on the dole.
You see, I inherited good solid working class values and a realistic understanding of how the world works from my immigrant forebears and my hippie education.
