Sorrow and pain
The people who’s jobs depended on the shuttle are depressed to say the least. I listened to a talk about space exploration at KSC visitor complex and the speaker had to fain enthusiasm when addressing the future astronauts in the audience- young children. Bruce Melnick, STS 41/49 gave a talk and mentioned that the astronaut core will be cut from 150 to 70. (He also had a great trivia question, “where is the rearview mirror on the space shuttle?â€)
And needless to say, tourism and it’s supporting industries are likely to suffer.
