It was pretty obvious a year ago that this was going to be the last great fling for the modern Democratic Party, which has essentially devolved into a pale copy of the old Green Party. Leftists running things in Congress, and an empty suit elected President. And yes, despite the crap he fed a lobotomized press and dazzled public in 2008, he is also a leftist.

The results, in economics, domestic issues, and foreign policy, could have been predicted by anybody who bothered to look at the history of these ideas.

Deficits increasing into the foreseeable future. Massive increases in government power. A world where we were promised everyone would love the new, meeker U.S., and instead we find ourselves in the middle of circling sharks.

The real danger now is between the November elections and next January. I have heard people use the term "rabid ducks."
