Like many other issues, "net neutrality" is simply another excuse for a statist power grab. I went over the fact a while ago that there is plenty of competition in the internet business. The sheer volume of mail I get trying to get me to switch services is proof enough.
Over the past few years the internet industry has been delivering a steady flow of increasing service, higher speeds, more access, increased choices, and unique new products, all without butt-ignorant politicians taking the wheel away from the private sector.
If there are people that believe internet access is one of an endless list of things that people have a "right" to at no cost, I can't really talk them out of it, but we have something that works pretty damn well for almost everyone. Why screw it up?
