Changing your diet (originally from Comestible Zone)

My wife likes to watch "The Biggest Loser". She finds it inspiring to see people make such a positive change in their lives. One of the trainers "Jillian" is a hardcore health nazi. Although abrasive, I've started to listen to her. She's made me face the fact I eat junk. She got her own show this summer to help families lose weight. The first thing she does is throw out just about everything in their freezer.

I shop at costco because I can get 6 weeks of food in one cart. It's supplemented by a few trips to the local grocery. I buy things that will fill me up and take very little prep. Frozen pizza, polish sausages, frozen breakfast sandwhiches, pot stickers, cheese and an occasional giant box of corn dogs. All this stuff is what Jillian throws in the trash on day one.

So now is the time to make an attempt to eat fresh foods, not because I'm worried about weight or having a heart attack but because intuitively, I know she's right. Garbage in, garbage out. Healthwise at least.
