"It can't happen here."
There was a time, not that long ago, when people would have sworn up and down that something like would never be accepted in England or Canada either.
We are slowly being acclimatized to statism, to the idea that it is improper to do anything without either the command or permission of our government. I have run trial balloons here, and the common response has been along the lines of "it's a great idea. Why shouldn't we be forced to do it?"
Keep in mind who runs our schools.
