I watched a big houseboat run aground once, it was actually pretty cool. Everybody aboard was below deck and drunk (no, I wasn't one of them. I never get invited to parties that good).
And a buddy of mine who was in the Canadian navy told me that his ship typically had so much beer aboard that they used it as ballast. I'm just saying, is all...
OTOH, maybe the super-advanced sub was trying to evolve into a land-dweller. Let it be free, I say! If it doesn't come back, it was never really theirs to begin with.
