There's a point to be made here. It's not only that dedicated Democrats don't get it, but the current leader of the country doesn't get it.

Obama just spent weeks trying to sell himself on what an "activist" president he has been. The word "accomplishments" comes every third sentence.

It's the FDR mythology, where liberals believe the best kind of president is one who comes in and just cranks the entire country around to match their great vision of what a nation should be. No matter what the actual people of the country think.

The idea of the American citizen as the property of the government is what I'm fighting. Today, especially. The president is not my frigging boss. It's really high time in this country our representatives - note the word - are reminded who in the hell here works for who.
