Well, it looks like we have a Republican House and a Democratic Senate, that is, until some Senator gets pissed and switches parties again. Yeesh. Score cards are needed in this day and age.
I think we should give this Republican heavy House the same honeymoon as they gave the Democratic House after the last election.
One week sounds about right. The Republican'ts surely can fix the country in a week.
The only good thing I can think of is that the tax cuts are likely to be cemented back in. Yay. I can use all the help I can get.
Two races that surprised me: Ike Skelton was beaten. He didn't put up much of a fight. I saw a lot of the Republican's ads but hardly any from Ike. Ike is a true gentleman and well thought of among Democrats AND Republicans. They did not bring out any hate ads or negative shit in the Republican ads against Skelton. They treated him with respect and basically kept saying that he was going down the wrong road and it was time for him to come home. It worked. Ike used to be my Representative many years ago when I lived in Nevada, MO. A true statesman. He was extremely gracious in defeat as he would have been had he won. He did well by our servicemen and women over the last 34 years.
The second one that surprised me was Rep. Emanuel Cleaver. He was my Representative and I never saw an ad from him. Either he thought he had it in the bag or he didn't have the funds. I don't know which but I'm sorry to see him go. He was always responsive to my questions, opinions and he kept in close touch with those he represented. I just don't understand how this happened. I can understand a loss if it was hotly contested but he did NOTHING to keep his seat. Maybe he wanted to come home.
