Yea, like 20 billion a year removed from the US federal budget will seriously erase a big chunk
of the 13 trillion dollar debt America owes.

Best to turn that 20 billion into prize money
for a private firm or free-enterprise group
to fight over to see who can set up a moon-base
to manufacture and set up huge solar panels on the moon and use microwave transmitters to transmit solar-electric power
to earth in the 10,000's of megawatts.
That Lunar-generated energy would make a great American export to reduce the balance-of-payments
deficit, and turn it to its benefit in the long run IMHO.
