Flame » in reply to The age of the Global Bomb

Slightly on-topic

When my brother and I went to see the Atlantis launch, we rented a car and a GPS. On the way back from a day at Universal Studios, I gave Hugh a wrong turn. We went under an unmarked (that's the way I remember it) overpass and the road opened up to 10 lanes, each with a guard shack. Hugh sort-of freaked out and tried to turn around but it was all one way. We slowly turned around and drove to the one booth with the lights on. "How ya doin‘"? asked the guard. "Ah... pretty good" Hugh said. "Are you guy's using a GPS?" "Yes we are". The guard chuckled and said, "Well, this is Lockheed Martin Missile Fire Control, your GPS won't work around here". He politely gave us directions to get out of there and we went back to the hotel.

I'm guessing they must jamb all satellite signals.
