I have this trouble with car idiot lights and icon-driven menus on software. Some symbol is there, and you go "what the hell does THAT mean?" At least with good software you can hover your mouse over an icon and it will tell you what it is.

I can't figure out why cars can't just SAY what a problem is. Almost all of them have video screens now, usually multifunction. Instead of "check engine" or some picture lighting up, why not just have a line of text saying "you're two quarts low on oil" or "Your number four sparkplug is getting wonky." Hell, I don't think engines still HAVE sparkplugs as such.
