Airline security: why don't we do it like Israel?
Well, one good reason (aside from the political-correctness issue) is a matter of scale.
Israel has just one major airport, serving about 1/8 the number of passengers that a single major American airport in L.A. or Chicago does. It's a lot easier to focus a small number of heavily-trained and experienced security personnel on such a concentrated point.
It's kind of like wondering why Monaco has an easier time maintaining its highways than we do.
