Short silver; now, long copper.

Big Bank Sitting On A Big Pile Of Copper

Interesting. Little known fact: Most silver produced from mines is a by-product from other metal extraction, much of it coming from "base" metal mines, like, say copper mines.

So, they've been shorting silver, which is going up in price, which costs them money. But they continue to place more short orders. Copper is going up, and they take a long position. Both positions are in quantities that are able to corner the market, at least in a paper market. And the two metal's production levels are intertwined. Drive up copper price, increase production of copper, which increases silver supply, which brings the price down?

?

I don't have a clue. What do they know that I don't?

Lots.
