What's the point of existence? Personally, I don't know if we'll be able to come up with one single universal answer to that. A long, long chain of unobserved, unguided accidents of physics and chemistry resulted in life on earth. In a vast, disinterested universe, humanity came into being the same way as did rocks and oceans and stars, and with no more, and no less, of a "point."

Maybe the best we'll be able to do is come to terms with the mechanics of how we came to be. That ain't so bad.

And if we choose to view ourselves as having a point, that's perfectly valid of course, and maybe even of value to our well-being, but we probably shouldn't expect any sort of validation from the universe.
