Social Security vs. gold!
I ran the same routine using ounces of gold instead of stocks. End result, an accumulation of 479 ounces or about 30 pounds of gold. Current value: about $651,500. Even better deal than stocks, and less emphemeral.
I think one standard "Fort Knox" type Good Delivery ingot (below) is 400 ounces.
