Clarke writes hard SF using a lot of technology. Mine are all human interaction related stories. Technology will have gone bye-bye. But how will society reorganize itself? What will life be like for most people who survive? Better yet, HOW do you survive?
Many years ago I read a novel about a group of people stranded on a large island after a disaster. They had what they needed to survive or ways or producing what they needed. But they had to recreate a society from scratch with laws and everything. It was a fascinating study in human character. It was a world where the worst sentence a person could receive was being banished. That was a death sentence.
Although I do have one post-apoc story with a bit of hard SF in it. However, I've got some research to do on it to make sure the science is correct or at least believable. You don't always have to have to have "correct" science if it's believable. I.E. Star Trek. "Warp speed, aye, Captain!"

Not quite.
