It depends, of course

on how quickly the society disintegrates. Pilots would die so few left who could fly, few who could service planes, and who would make the vaccines? Anyone with diabetes dependent on medication would be screwed. Canned foods have expiration dates (they'd last longer than that but they would eventually spoil) so you'd have to rapidly start growing your own crops and go back to underground storage to keep foods (underground is cooler). A lot of things to consider in HOW the apocalypse manifests, the speed, the method, etc. And a lot to consider in how people survive. There will almost always be some who are immune to any virus they release as a terror weapon.

If nukes, think On The Beach. But now they have dirty bombs which won't kill in the same way.

And then there is the slow deterioration caused by dirty politicians as in Promise of Spring. So then there are planes, there is food, etc. but all is tightly controlled by the State.
