I hate seeing professionally written, edited news report use bad grammar. It grates on my nerves. Grrrrrrrrr.
From Clinton Dials it Up a Notch: "U.S. statements are unlikely to have much affect on the immediate situation." EFFECT, idiot, EFFECT. Sheesh.
Affect is a verb--will somebody tell these journalists they should first study grammar. I guess the day is gone where editors ask aspiring journalists (as one did me) how well they know grammar.
