"Hope One is Available"

How about "Allow the employees too much control of their wages and benefits, and next time you're looking for a place to work, hope one is available."

I don't know where the quote on those mugs and things is from, but it's a bit silly. Vast quantities of our needs are met daily and efficiently by non-union employees. Almost all of them. In fact, often more efficiently.

I understand the political appeal of public employee unions.

The goal is to have a Democratically-controlled government pumping piles of taxpayer money to their loyal union supporters, who in return ensure the election of Democrats, the destruction of the opposition, and even kick back a nice chunk of that taxpayer money into Democratic political campaign coffers.

If you're a Democratic politician, what's not to like? And of course you're going to fight tooth and nail to keep that cushy system in place, even if you're out of office for a time. After all, with thousands of Democratic Party myrmidons still in the union system, pumping you taxpayer cash and campaign support, you'll be back in power soon enough.

Democratic process? Voting? Law by representative government? Screw that, this is "progressivism."

By any means necessary.

Wake up, Eri. It's the 21st century and union leaders ain't no Joe Hills anymore.
